Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism by a special outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which seals and confirms the Baptized in union with Christ and calls them to a greater participation in the worship and apostolic life of the Church.
The Archdiocese of New Orleans confirms in 11th grade. Requirements include 12-14 hours of study at the parish prior to Confirmation, attendance at the Confirmation retreat, an interview with the Pastor, and the completion of 5 service hours.
In addition, students need to select a Confirmation sponsor to serve as a spiritual mentor. A sponsor must be at least 16 years of age, confirmed, and a Catholic in good standing. Sponsors must complete and turn in the required Sponsor Form.
For further information, please see our High School/Confirmation page HERE.
Adults desiring to be Confirmed are directed to our OCIA page for more information.
